Abuse & Neglect

Any form of abuse can cause harm to a person and this harm can continue long after the abuse has stopped.  Survivors of abuse are at a higher risk of developing further problems with their mental health such as:

Anxiety

Problems with controlling anger

Depression

Dissociation Disorder

Sudden changes in mood

PTSD/CPTSD

Self-destructive behaviours such as self-harm or reckless behaviours

Issues surrounding trust

How can counselling help me?

Working with an experienced trauma counsellor allows you the opportunity to talk through the effects of the abuse on your day to day living and find coping skills and strategies to manage some of the longstanding effects.
